KOSOKO

If Kosoko doesn't get this scholarship, he won't be able to afford his dream school, Columbia University, in the fall. It's just a personal essay, but words aren't really his thing until he unwittingly befriends Romona, a local English major with a supernatural secret.

Bodies Unburied

Romona is dead, but no one knows. Her body lies underneath a blanket above ground outside of an abandoned building. Her new friend, Kosoko, though suspects that something is up.

Dead. Yes.

Romona shows Kosoko her corpse but makes him promise not to tell. If buried, she'll go to Heaven, but she wants to stay on Earth. Yet, as Kosoko reflects on Romona's mourning mother, he decides to break his promise.
